Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few questions that people ask pretty frequently. Contact me if you have other questions!
What is a travel advisor? Is that like a travel agent?
Basically, travel agents existed before the internet. Once the internet came along, people could book everything on their own. Now, with the overwhelming amount of information available, Travel Advisors are well-informed individuals who get to know clients and make recommendations to help them have the best experience possible.
Can you get me a deal?
I will look for the best pricing available to me. If a promotion is available, I will take advantage of it for you. Our rates are usually the same as what you will find online, and we often have access to some added perks. If all you want is the cheapest thing available, that's not really the point of a travel advisor.
How do you get paid?
The main way we get paid is through commissions. Suppliers (hotels, cruises, etc.) have commission built into their rates. If you book directly, they keep the commission. If you book with someone like Expedia, they get the commission. If you book with a travel advisor, you are supporting a small business! For certain trips, like a custom itinerary, a planning fee might apply.
Will it cost me more than booking online?
As I mentioned before, I will look for the best rate available to me. If I find different rates, I always check inclusions and cancellation policies to see if there is a reason for the difference. Ultimately, I want you to have the best value, as well as a rate that allows for flexibility in case your plans change.
